Idli

Like I told before Jaffna is a region that mostly with Tamils. Therefore, both South India and Jaffna have got some nearly equal and same culture. Idli is basically a South Indian food. A white colour, UFO shaped food has a tasty appearance. The main ingredients are urad and rice, this is 100% vegan. Generally, 6-8 idli is enough enough   per person. Softly and fluffy food is mouth-watering. A curry is served with Idli called ‘Sambaru’ and a sambol ‘Chutney’. The combination of these three courses is awesome. Don’t you want to try this marvelous recipe. Here is the way how to make the meal for four serves….

Ingredients

  • ·        2 ½ cup of rice
  • ·        1 ½ urad dhal
  • ·        5 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • ·        ½ tablespoon of fenugreek seeds
  • ·        Salt and water as required

How to make

First wash the rice and dhal properly then, soak the mixture 4-6 hours after adding fenugreek seeds. After that drain the water from the mixture and grind it adding water till the mixture became a thick paste.

Then keep the mixture (a kind of batter) in a warm better place to ferment. Once the batter is risen add some salt to end the ferment. 

Then finally take the Idli stand and apply some oil on it. Pour the mixture on the particular spots and steam it nearly 8-10 minutes. Here we have hot, tasty and fluffy Idlis.
