Jaffna is a peninsula with full of religious culture. There are some foods which are distributed in Kovils during festival time. This rice can keep well for few days with no issue. It is time to cook another delicious food in your kitchen. Try this extraordinary recipe and taste the Jaffna taste.

Ingredients

  • ·        2 cups of cooked rice
  • ·        ¼ cup of seedless tamarind
  • ·        ½ tsp of fenugreek
  • ·        4 tbsp of scraped carrot
  • ·        3 tbsp of urad dhal
  • ·        1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ·        4 dried chilies (cut into pieces)
  • ·        2 tbsp cooking(coconut) oil
  • ·        ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ·        Some curry leaves
  • ·        Pinch of salt

How to Make

First put the tamarind and salt into 1 cup of hot water and stir well and keep aside. Then take a pan and put the oil in it. When the pan is ready put the fenugreek, coconut, urad dhal, mustard seeds, pieces of chilies and turmeric powder into it and fry well. Then pour the tamarind water into it and stir well. When the water gets to boil, put the cooked rice in the pan and mix it. Cook well for some minutes.

In the end take a clean banana leaf and parcel the rice tightly. You can keep the rice for two days and have and it would be delicious. You can add some peanuts if you prefer. Here we have another Jaffna recipe.
