Last Day in Delft
The ending story of a three days of an island
life. Though I share the experiences on the destinations in Delft, there a lot
to things to do in Jaffna. Cycling, camping, swimming as well as diving are the
greatest things to do in Delft. You can spend the whole night in beach feeling
the breeze and the moon. Due to the lack of light pollution, you can see a billion
of stars in the sky. The beach is one of a best beach to stay late night and to
have a BBQ party. The safety is at a high point because the police station is
situated very close to the beach. But please be wise to be sharp.
Bye! Bye! Delft. |
The sacred growing stone |
Have ever seen a stone which grow. Definitely
not. But yes, if you got a chance to have a trip to Delft, you can see a
growing stone. I know it sounds weird. Actually, there are several stones in
Sri Lanka, which are believed growing by the People. Almost every stone is
situated in any kind of religious places.
Here, the growing stone is located near
to a Kovil. People light up oil lamps and offer flowers. The history about the
growing stone is vanished, but the elderly people, who have spent their whole
life in the island made their opinions strongly that the stone is becoming
large year by year. Anyhow the shape of
the stone looks strange, obviously it seems like growing. Anyhow, I cannot
tell the scientific facts behind the story. Someday, someone will discover the
truth behind the story. Until then the stone will never stop its growth.
The Giant Nuga Tree
Nuga trees commonly have a kind of big structure.
But there is a special Nuga tree in Jaffna. It is different with others by the
size. Yes, the tree in Delft is not a huge, literally it should be called as a
gigantic Nuga tree. The tree seems like a bunch of trees. Nuga tree has a kind
of roots which hang up from the branches and make the connection with the
ground. In here, the roots that are hanging from the branches looking like
trunks. Therefore, finding the main trunk of this gigantic Nuga tree is
impossible. The shelter of the three is spreading in a large area, nearly the
size of a football ground. It is quite enjoyable under this vast shelter of the
Nuga tree. I spent a quality time under this Nuga shelter and looked for the
main trunk of the tree. If anyone get the main trunk, just put a comment.
